How to update your Client Portal profile and notification settings
The Client Portal has a personal settings page where you can update your display name, set your preferred language and timezone, and control when you receive email notifications about new tasks and messages.
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”Any logged-in Client Portal user. These settings affect only your own account — they do not change anything for other people in your firm.
Opening your settings
Section titled “Opening your settings”- Log in to your Client Portal.
- In the left navigation, click Settings (the gear icon).
The Settings page opens. It is divided into three sections: Profile, Regional preferences, and Notification preferences.
Profile information
Section titled “Profile information”- First name and Last name — your display name shown throughout the portal and in communications with your service provider.
- Phone — optional. Useful if your service provider needs to contact you directly by phone.
- Email — shown for reference only. Your email address cannot be changed here because it is your login identifier. If you need a different email address, contact your service provider and ask them to update your contact record.
Regional preferences
Section titled “Regional preferences”- Language — changes the portal interface language. The change takes effect immediately after you save.
- Timezone — ensures that task due dates, message timestamps, and other time-sensitive information display correctly for your location.
- Regional format — controls how dates, numbers, and currencies are displayed. For example, whether a date reads
07.04.2026or04/07/2026.
Notification preferences
Section titled “Notification preferences”The Client Portal sends you email notifications when your service provider assigns you a new task, updates an existing task, or sends you a message. You can control the timing:
- Instantly — you are notified as soon as something changes.
- In the morning — a daily summary delivered in the morning.
- In the afternoon — a daily summary delivered in the afternoon.
- In the evening — a daily summary delivered in the evening.
Match the timing to how you work: if you check email first thing in the morning, “In the morning” means you start each day with a clear picture of what needs attention.
Saving your changes
Section titled “Saving your changes”After making any changes on the Settings page, click Save at the top of the page. Changes are not applied until you save.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”I cannot change my email address
Section titled “I cannot change my email address”Your email address is your login identifier and can only be changed by your service provider on their side. Contact your service provider and ask them to update your contact record with the new email address. After that, use the new email to log in via magic link.
I am not receiving email notifications
Section titled “I am not receiving email notifications”Check that your notification setting is not set to a time that has already passed today. Also check your spam or junk folder — portal notification emails can occasionally be filtered. If you find them in spam, mark them as not-spam so future emails arrive in your inbox.
Dates and times look wrong in the portal
Section titled “Dates and times look wrong in the portal”Open Settings and verify your Timezone setting. If you recently moved or are traveling, update it to your current timezone and save.
The portal language changed back after I saved it
Section titled “The portal language changed back after I saved it”Make sure you clicked Save at the top of the Settings page after selecting the language. If the language still reverts, try logging out and back in.
