Task settings
Task settings let you control how tasks behave across your company — including which templates members can see, how time estimates are handled, checklist enforcement, and whether members can edit time entries.
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”- Company Owners and Company Admins can access and change task settings.
How to access task settings
Section titled “How to access task settings”- Select Settings & Apps from the main navigation.
- Click on your company’s app card.
- Select Settings from the navigation menu.
Available task settings
Section titled “Available task settings”Disable built-in task templates
Section titled “Disable built-in task templates”Hide built-in task templates so members can only select from your company’s own templates. This prevents accidentally applying the wrong workflow template to a client.
Set the estimation as the time, if the exact value is not entered
Section titled “Set the estimation as the time, if the exact value is not entered”When a member marks a task as done without logging time, Uku automatically uses the task’s time estimate as the recorded time. Useful for ensuring time reports reflect work even when tracking is forgotten.
The checklist must be completed to finish the task
Section titled “The checklist must be completed to finish the task”When enabled, all checklist items on a task must be checked before the task can be marked as done. This is useful for tasks with mandatory compliance steps.
Disable topic management for members
Section titled “Disable topic management for members”Prevents regular members from creating new topics. Members must select from existing topics only. This keeps reporting consistent and prevents topic fragmentation.
Disable time edit for members
Section titled “Disable time edit for members”When enabled, members can only record time using the stopwatch timer and cannot manually edit time entries afterward. Promotes accurate real-time tracking.
Allow time entries in future
Section titled “Allow time entries in future”Allows all members to add time entries for future dates — for example, to log planned vacation or leave in advance.
Lock time entries
Section titled “Lock time entries”Locks time entries for all regular members on a weekly or monthly basis. Company Owners and Company Admins can still modify locked entries, but regular members cannot.
Troubleshooting

Section titled “Members can still edit time entries after locking”Verify the lock setting is active and that the user’s role is Company Member (not Company Admin or Company Owner). Admins and Owners are not subject to the lock.
Uku task templates still appear after disabling
Section titled “Uku task templates still appear after disabling”Ask members to refresh their browser or log out and back in for the change to take effect.
Tasks can be completed without finishing the checklist
Section titled “Tasks can be completed without finishing the checklist”Confirm that the The checklist must be completed to finish the task setting is toggled on in your company settings. If it was just enabled, it applies to tasks going forward.
