The Free plan is designed for solo practitioners. It gives you a taste of task and client management without a subscription commitment. Key limitations:

  • Single-user — you cannot invite team members.
  • Limited number of clients and tasks.
  • Billing, time tracking, and integrations are not available. If you are testing Uku before starting a trial, or you manage all your own work without a team, the Free plan works as a starting point. Most firms outgrow it quickly once they want to track billable time or send invoices.

The Team plan is the standard choice for accounting and bookkeeping firms. It includes everything you need to run client work end-to-end:

  • Unlimited clients, tasks, and workflow templates.
  • Full billing — create products, set up contracts, generate invoices, send payment reminders.
  • Time tracking, including billable/non-billable categorisation.
  • Client Portal — share tasks and documents with your clients.
  • Monitoring — track compliance deadlines across all your clients.
  • Email integration — connect your Gmail or Outlook inbox.
  • Accounting integrations — sync invoices with Xero, Merit Aktiva, QuickBooks, and others.
  • Flextime & Workforce Management for managing your team’s hours and schedules. The Team plan charges per active member seat. You can add and remove members at any time.

The Elite plan adds a layer of advanced analytics and automation on top of everything in Team:

  • BI Analytics — revenue, profitability, utilization, and billing health dashboards, with firm-wide and per-client views. Available to Company Admins and Company Owners.
  • Capacity Planning — AI-assisted time estimation and team capacity modelling.
  • eSignatures — request legally binding electronic signatures on documents directly from the Client Portal. Produces ASiC-E compliant signature containers.
  • Public API — programmatic access to your Uku data. JWT authentication, base URL: https://app.getuku.com/api/v1.0/.
  • Budgets — set spending caps per client and get notified when work approaches or exceeds the budget.
  • Proposals — send service proposals to prospective clients before a contract is in place.
  • Documents — connect a Google Drive or Dropbox folder to individual clients for seamless document management.
  • Audit log — full change history across your whole account. See what changed, who changed it, and when. Includes the ability to undo changes.

Some companies that adopted Elite early are on a grandfathered Elite Early Bird pricing arrangement. The features available are identical to the current Elite plan. If you see “Elite Early Bird” listed on your subscription page, your plan is equivalent to Elite — no feature difference applies.

  1. Go to Settings & Apps in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Subscription.
  3. Review the plan comparison and click Upgrade on the plan you want.
  4. Follow the prompts to confirm billing details.

Only the Company Owner can change the subscription plan. For detailed steps on managing your subscription, adding or removing seats, and applying voucher codes, see Subscription and plan management.

A feature is described as Team but I cannot see it

Section titled “A feature is described as Team but I cannot see it”

Some features (like Billing, Monitoring, and Projects) are available on Team but must be explicitly enabled in Settings & Apps before they appear in the sidebar. Go to Settings & Apps and look for the feature card — click the toggle to enable it. If you do not see the toggle, check with your Company Admin or Company Owner.

BI Analytics says “Elite required” but I am on Elite

Section titled “BI Analytics says “Elite required” but I am on Elite”

BI Analytics is visible only to Company Owners and Company Admins on the Elite plan. Company Members see a scoped version limited to their own assigned clients. If you are a Company Admin and still cannot access BI Analytics, confirm your plan in Settings & Apps → Subscription.

Contact Uku support before downgrading. When you move from Elite to Team, Elite-only features (BI Analytics, Audit log, eSignatures, etc.) become inaccessible, but the underlying data is preserved in case you upgrade again. The Company Owner manages plan changes via Settings & Apps → Subscription.
