Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”- All logged-in members have access to all features described here.
- Language switching is per-member — each member sets their own preference independently.
Navigation arrows — move between records without going back
Section titled “Navigation arrows — move between records without going back”When you open a client, project, invoice, or member profile from a list view, navigation arrows appear in the header. These let you move to the previous or next item without returning to the list.
- Click the left arrow to go to the previous item.
- Click the right arrow to go to the next item.
- Click the menu icon between the arrows to open a dropdown of all items from the list. The dropdown is searchable when it contains nine or more items.
- Click View list at the bottom of the dropdown to return to the full list.
The navigation arrows preserve your current tab. For example, if you are on a client’s Contracts tab, navigating to the next client opens their Contracts tab too.
Global search
Section titled “Global search”A search field appears in the header bar on the dashboard. Use it to quickly find tasks, clients, projects, or other records without navigating through menus. The field expands with a smooth animation when the dashboard is active.
Quick task creation
Section titled “Quick task creation”The + button in the header bar lets you create a new task from anywhere in the application.
- Click the button itself to open a blank new task form.
- Hover over the button to reveal a dropdown showing your recently worked-on tasks (for quick timer restarts) and your configured Magic Button shortcuts (for one-click task creation from templates).
- If you are inside a project or client view, the new task is automatically linked to that project or client.
Changing your language
Section titled “Changing your language”- Click your profile avatar or name in the application menu.
- Select Profile.
- In the edit form, find the Language dropdown and select your preferred language.
- Click Save.
Uku supports English, Estonian, German, Danish, Spanish, Bulgarian, and others. The language setting is per-member — changing it updates all interface labels and menus immediately after saving. You can also set a Regional format separately, which controls how dates and numbers are displayed.
Dark mode
Section titled “Dark mode”If dark mode is enabled for your account, your profile menu includes a Dark mode toggle. Switching it on changes the entire interface to a dark colour scheme. The setting persists across sessions.
Unsaved changes warning
Section titled “Unsaved changes warning”When you have unsaved changes in a task, invoice, client form, or other editable view, Uku protects you from accidentally losing work in two ways:
- Browser warning — if you try to close the browser tab or navigate to an external URL, the browser shows a standard “you have unsaved changes” confirmation dialog.
- In-app navigation guard — if you try to navigate to another page within Uku, a confirmation dialog asks whether you want to leave without saving.
These warnings only appear when there are actual pending changes. Once you save or discard your edits, navigation proceeds normally.
Your profile menu
Section titled “Your profile menu”Click your avatar in the header to open the profile menu. From here you can:
- Go to your Profile to update personal settings.
- Open the Activity log to see recent actions across your account.
- Open the Audit log (if enabled — Elite plan required for team-wide view).
- Toggle Dark mode (if enabled).
- Toggle your Location (in-office or remote) if office attendance tracking is active.
- Click Log out to sign out.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The navigation arrows do not appear when I open a client
Section titled “The navigation arrows do not appear when I open a client”Navigation arrows only appear when you open a record directly from a list view. If you opened the client by typing the URL directly or clicking a link from another part of the app, there is no “list context” and the arrows do not appear. Navigate back to the client list, then click the client row to re-establish the context.
I changed my language but the interface still shows the old language
Section titled “I changed my language but the interface still shows the old language”After saving your profile, the language change takes effect immediately without a page reload. If you still see the old language, try a hard refresh of the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).
The + button creates a task linked to the wrong client
Section titled “The + button creates a task linked to the wrong client”The + button links the new task to the client or project you are currently viewing. If you are on the dashboard or a list view, the task will not be pre-linked. Navigate into the specific client view first, then use + to create the task linked to that client.
